FLLR 015 - New Order Tapes (part 9)

Image
New Order tapes part 9 of unknown. Again, who knows when this stops, if anything ever stops.  Life never does, even when you reach your ultimate destination, which for everybody is death, of course.  This "New Order Story" is inundated with deaths, first of Ian Curtis (1980), and then Martin Hannett (1991), Robert Leo Gretton (1999), Anthony H. Wilson (2007), and Malcolm Whitehead (2019). FLLR015 - A1 Ceremony [FAC33 a-side] One song I never get tired of hearing, in any context.  Galaxie 500 covered this song, which is arguably their most well-known song.  This live version is taken from Club Lingerie in Hollywood CA at the end of March 1990. Cool Spacement 3 shirt. A more recent rendition from Dean Wareham and friends , done for KXLU 88.9 FM in Lost Angeles. Even Radiohead cannot completely shame themselves here.  "Thank you very much, now what?" indeed. FLLR015 - A2 Broken Promise [University Of London Union 25 Oct 1985] On the source I p...

FLLR 014 - New Order Tapes (part 8)

Image
New Order tapes part 8 of unknown. I'm not sure when this series will end, maybe when I run out of tapes to go through, or people stop sticking filler at the end.  CD-R compilations are not dissimilar but somehow in the digital realm, there's less of a predilection to mix-and-match since everything is short attention-span theater anyway, as people go from one YouTube link or another or hop six ways until Sunday through on Spotify playlist or another. FLLR014 - 01 hiss floors One of the things you'd listen to in order to determine tape lineage, meaning how many times a particular recording has been copied around. FLLR014 - 02 Atmosphere (870402 Woolwich Coronet) FLLR014 - 03 Do The Ostrich (870402 Woolwich Coronet) The encore tracks for this particular show.  The same recording as above for "Do The Ostrich" (a pre-Velvets Lou Reed composition credited to "The Primitives" not to be confused with the late-80s band trading under the same name) is ...

FLLR 013 - New Order Tapes (part 7)

Image
Why a pic of JD/NO Doc Martens?  Why not! New Order tapes part 7 of unknown Various and sundry culled from live tapes of the band.  Filler at its finest. The following are all samples, with most tracks not complete: FLLR013 - 01 Truth (live Cedar Club, Birmingham, UK, 10.04.81) FLLR013 - 02 Temptation (live Imperial Cinema, Birmingham, UK, 23.01.82)  FLLR013 - 03 In A Lonely Place (830312 - Tolworth) FLLR013 - 04 Blue Monday (live Tower Ballroom, Birmingham, UK, 09.05.83) FLLR013 - 05 Leave Me Alone (830720 - Hacienda) FLLR013 - 06 'dickhead' DJ - Confusion (840603 - Birmingham) FLLR013 - 07 Everything's Gone Green (live City Hall, Hull, UK, 16.08.84) FLLR013 - 08 Elegia (850409 - Birmingham) FLLR013 - 09 The Perfect Kiss (live Thames Hall, Fulcrum Centre, Slough, UK, 07.12.85) FLLR013 - 10 Angel Dust (live Mayfair, Newcastle, UK, 10.09.86) For the first time, I've made these available to download together , if you'd like. It would ...

FLLR 012 - New Order Tapes (part 6)

Image
New Order tapes part 6 of unknown Various and sundry culled from live tapes of the band.  Filler at its finest. FLLR012 - 01 880621 - Radio City NZ 194 FM - 'Disco Club' Mix This is pretty obscure, an unknown "Disco Club" mix from New Zealand radio blending True Faith, Confusion, and Bizarre Love Triangle, and Subculture.  Totally exclusive to this show.  Love the orchestral strings at the start. FLLR012 - 02 Paradise ('87 Aus Remix) 12 in dub This, of course, is the Robert Racic mix.  One of my favorite NO remixes, and as far as I know, never released on CD or elsewhere, except maybe on a random compilation or three. The first two tracks were taken from a tape of one of New Order's 1987 Australian shows. FLLR012 - 03 DC-860911_Roxy_Hollywood_M2 Durutti Column recorded live in their only US tour.  A copy of my friend's recording, first four songs.  Very unlikely we'll see them on these shores ever again, sadly. tracks: ...

FLLR 011 - New Order Tapes (part 5)

Image
New Order tapes part 5 of unknown Various and sundry culled from live tapes of the band.  Filler at its finest. FLLR011 - 01 various FLLR011 - 02 Sooner Than You Think (cuts) Pictured is the tape where the full recording of this show resides.  These tracks were excerpts from a 90 minute soundcheck and were filler added to the end of this tape, "+SOUNDCHECK excerpt". This is accounted as the best performance of all of their Australian '87 shows. FLLR011 - 03 Bizarre Love Triangle (full) An excerpt from my old notes: Here, I've provided BLT from my old source in full. I decided against trying to make a patch due to the vast different in SQ, and I also wanted to preserve the integrity of Tim C.'s cassette (you can otherwise leave these out and put the gig tracks on one CD and the s/c with the rest of the filler on the other) Tim C. was an associate who generously spotted me a huge archive of recordings over the years, incl...

FLLR 010 - New Order tapes (part 4)

Image
New Order tapes part 4 of unknown Various and sundry culled from live tapes of the band.  Filler at its finest. FLLR010 - 01 Warsaw - You're No Good For Me "Don't know what I'm doing - don't know where I'm going Leading me to ruin - I should have traded you in Yeah, you think you're something but you're no good for me..." Quite an enjoyable little ditty.  Listening to this in isolation, you'd have no idea that this 1977-era punk tune would lead onto the majesty of Joy Division, rather than a bunch of blokes that got together to record a few tracks just for the fun of it. FLLR010 - 02 'Shooting On The Move'   (megamix that incorporates Prime 5-8-6) Quite a strange blend of 'Prime 5-8-6' with some samples / soundtrack material not far removed from a chilled out Cabaret Voltaire cum ACR in their Tribeca NYC loft.  I'm sure if I kept better track, I'd have a better idea of its provenance. FLLR010 - 03 Wild...

FLLR 009 - New Order tapes (part 3)

Image
New Order tapes part 3 of unknown Various and sundry culled from live tapes of the band.  Filler at its finest. FLLR009 - 01 Ceremony (800502, mix AUD-SBD) FLLR009 - 02 24 Hours  (800502) Both of these are from Joy Division's final concert at High Hall in Birmingham.  Obviously, you'll see selections from New Order's previous incarnation, it's unavoidable.  Never understood those who like one over the other...it's the same continuum, and in the case of 'Ceremony' a track that was written as Joy Division and released as New Order. "Ceremony" is a blend from the best-sounding audience version into the "Still" soundboard version, which starts late as it's said the person manning the mixing desk started the tape late. 24 Hours only appears on LP/tape versions...even in 2008, with the Joy Division reissue of "Still"...which believe me, was frustrating.... FLLR009 - 03 Lonesome Tonight (alternate) Not sure w...
